Your anonymous phone line from students for students. No counseling takes place.  <\/p>\n\n<p>You can use our <a href=\"https:\/\/htu.at\/coaching\/\">Coaching<\/a>. Please note the difference between therapy and coaching. <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Option 1: Call the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oeh.ac.at\/helpline\"><strong>Helpline<\/strong><\/a><strong> of the \u00d6H, you will be placed within a week<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p>If possible, free public health insurance slots will be arranged. If you need other things like a confirmation for study grant, a neurologist, etc., they can also help you with that. <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Option 2: Short-term therapy, usually 3 sessions, help with finding long-term care<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p>This is where you usually start and get an appointment really quickly. There is an initial consultation in which the situation is clarified and it&#8217;s discussed what could help you. Then there are some follow-up consultations. For many, this is enough to be able to study again!   <\/p>\n\n<p>Make an appointment by email with our <strong>TU-internal <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tuwien.at\/studium\/student-support\/psychologische-beratung-und-mentale-gesundheit\"><strong>Psychosocial Student Counseling<\/strong><\/a> (If you have difficulty reaching Ms. Springer, send us an email to <a href=\"mailto:sozial@htu.at\">sozial@htu.at<\/a>). <\/p>\n\n<p>Or make an appointment with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.studentenberatung.at\/\">Psychological Student Counseling<\/a>. There are also group offers available on the topic of learning and study organization.  <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Option 3: Immediate help<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p>Either our TU-internal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tuwien.at\/studium\/studieren-an-der-tuw\/psychosoziale-studierendenberatung\">Psychosocial Student Counseling<\/a> and explain your emergency situation to get an appointment faster or call the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psd-wien.at\/einrichtungen\/behandlung\/soforthilfe.html\">Psychosocial Emergency Service<\/a>. The focus of the Psychosocial Emergency Service is on psychiatric emergencies. There are psychiatrists on site who can make a diagnosis and prescribe medication.  <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Option 4: Find a psychologist yourself and pay yourself or apply for a health insurance subsidy<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p>You can find a psychologist\/psychotherapist yourself, e.g. at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychnet.at\/\">Professional Association of Austrian Psychologists<\/a> or at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychotherapie.at\/patientinnen\/psychotherapeutinnen-suche\">Austrian Federal Association for Psychotherapy<\/a>. They will tell you their hourly rate and you pay yourself. You can apply for a cost subsidy from your health insurance company via the therapist. You will always receive a cost subsidy for the first 10 sessions, for all further sessions you have to submit a very detailed application. Nevertheless, you still bear the costs predominantly yourself.    <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Option 5: Wait for a fully funded public health insurance slot<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p>You have to ask the psychologist\/psychotherapist of your choice (see option 3) whether a fully funded public health insurance slot is available. A search with free public health insurance slots for Vienna can be found, for example, at the <a href=\"http:\/\/members.psychotherapie-wien.at\/\">Vienna Society for Psychotherapeutic Care<\/a> (select free \u00d6GK slots). At the family doctor you either get information material on how to get a public health insurance slot or he\/she is well connected and recommends someone who has a slot available. It may take longer to get a place.   <\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Option 6: An association or counseling center offers free or discounted therapy slots<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p>It depends on finding the right association here. Some places feel responsible, for example, for women, women with a migration background, others for men with aggression problems. There are often waiting lists and you will be informed as soon as a place becomes available.  <\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fem.at\/beratung\/\">FEM Frauenberatung<\/a> (couselling for women) up to 10 consultations, cheap<\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/men-center.at\/beratung\/\">MEN M\u00e4nnerberatung<\/a> (counselling for men) up to 10 consultations, cheap<\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maenner.at\/psychotherapie\/\">M\u00e4nnerberatung Wien<\/a> staggered costs according to income<\/p>\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Option 7: Specialized facilities<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n<p>You can also be referred to specialized facilities by your family doctor. This is an option for burnout, for example, to be able to rest. If a diagnosis has already been made, a therapy\/cure stay may also be possible. Such voluntary stays last several weeks.   <\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oeh.ac.at\/studieren\/mental-health\/\">List of further contact points<\/a> from the \u00d6H Federal Representation.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you lack the financial means for therapy, you can also apply for <a href=\"https:\/\/htu.at\/service\/f%C3%B6rderungen\">hardship funds (H\u00e4rtefond)<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How can I start psychotherapy?
