Of the \u20ac18 billion needed, only \u20ac15.5 billion will be available. Given inflation, that\u2019s far too little! The government is actively cutting back and skimping on OUR future!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What this specifically means \u2013 and why it affects you:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Worse supervision ratios<\/strong>: This means less staff in labs, seminars, and exercises, and the quality of teaching will noticeably decline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Longer waiting times, overcrowded courses<\/strong>: Fewer exam dates and staff will naturally lead to courses exceeding their capacity limits, or even the cancellation of elective courses!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fewer study spaces<\/strong>: Budget cuts lead to fewer study rooms and poorer infrastructure in lecture halls.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expiration of fixed-term contracts<\/strong>: Existing positions for doctoral students, as well as tutors and student assistants, will expire and not be re-advertised. Paid internships or diploma positions will also have to be cut. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Loss of future viability and competitiveness<\/strong>: A cut affects not only universities but also the core of Austria&#8217;s technology and business location \u2013 with consequences for internships, theses, research projects, and future career opportunities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Abandonment of intergenerational equity<\/strong>: You \u2013 the next generation \u2013 would be granted poorer educational opportunities than previous generations. This is not an austerity measure, but a directional decision against the future. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br><strong>Demo Workshop<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Wednesday, <strong>October 21<\/strong>, there will be a demonstration workshop at <strong>5:00 p.m<\/strong>. at the <strong>MBVT <\/strong>on the Getreidemarkt campus. We\u2019ll be making banners and signs for the demonstration.<br>Materials will be provided on site, and beer will be available for \u20ac1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Thursday, there will be a workshop in the main building before the demonstration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Demonstration on thursday Oct 22th 2026<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The weather forecast is currently stable, but we can\u2019t guarantee good weather. Warm clothing and rain gear can be very helpful\u2014remember to bring everything else you\u2019ll need to get through the day comfortably and safely (water, snacks, comfortable shoes, a power bank, motivation, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Refreshments will be provided before the march\u2014there will be free hot drinks and waffles in front of the TU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the march itself, there will be marshals wearing yellow safety vests.
