As a student at an Austrian university or university of applied sciences, you are automatically a member of the Austrian student union (ÖH). ÖH is the statutory representation of all students.
ÖH is divided into three levels in order to be able to provide representation tailored to your needs.

Participate in the selection of professors and lecturers

Management of learning rooms and shared kitchens
University Level (HTU)
Univertretung, UV
Specialized support (studying with children, foreign students, exchange semester, legal advices for students)
Legal support
Financial support for those in need
Participate in decision-making when new study programs are introduced
Influence the general environment and conditions for students
Support against discrimination
Special lectures and entertainment
Federal Level
Bundesvertretung, BV
Financial aids
Support for students and individuals interested in pursuing higher education
Communication with the government
Political PR work
Who can I elect?
Study-Program Level
You can vote for up to five¹ candidates. Maximum one vote per candidate. The five¹ candidates with the most votes are elected.
¹Up to three for Geodesy
University Level (HTU)
You can vote for one list of candidates. Seats are assigned proportional to vote share.
At TU Wien the university level has 19 seats.
Federal Level
You can vote for one list of candidates. Seats are assigned proportional to vote share.
The federal level has 55 seats.
May I vote?
You may vote if these points apply to you:
You are a student at an Austrian university / higher education institute. Citizenship doesn’t matter and both exchange and non-degree students are eligible to vote.
You paid the student union (ÖH) fee by 25th of March.
You are at least 14 years old on the first day of the election (13th of May, 2025).
