Oil on Canvas, 2025
Art piece Description:
The artwork is exploring the interconnection of entropy and information. Throughout the development of a society people always tend to order the world around and gather the information to preserve it, this work against entropy is visualized as a sculpture of Swiss artist Bruno Weber, the creator of the Owl on TU library façade. A piercing gaze of the Owl shows cold nature of the gathered knowledge, which is neither an agent of good nor evil, it resides on another, thermodynamic line of the existence. The light from a strong undefined source on a sculpture depicts entropy, which is always in an urge to scatter the information.
Also, the artwork expresses author’s anxiety towards the dim, unpredictable future, fear of war and destruction.
Biography:
Born and raised in Russia, now based in Vienna. In 2021, after a brief pause of 12 years I resumed painting, and currently figure out my way into the art world, my style and technic are rapidly changing, currently conceptualism is entering my field of view. I’m highly influenced by Russian art of 1850 – 1910 years, if we are naming names – look at these 2 paintings: A. Kuindzhi – ’Birch Grove’, 1879 and I. Mashkov ’Self-portrait and a Portrait of Pyotr Konchalovsky’, 1910; these 2 are very powerful works of their generations. Watch me succeed or disappear.
